National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center Highlighted on National TV Show “Yellowstone” This Sunday
(LAME DEER, Mont., July 26, 2020)—This weekend, the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center (NIWRC) will be featured as a resource at the end of Episode 6, Season 3, of Paramount Network’s “Yellowstone" television show airing Sunday, July 26, 2020, reaching millions of viewers of the drama series. Taylor Sheridan, a creator of the “Yellowstone” series, continues to support NIWRC’s work to raise awareness of violence against Native women and girls in the United States.
“We are so appreciative of Taylor Sheridan and the entire ‘Yellowstone’ cast for their ongoing support of the work to end violence against Native women,” said Lucy Simpson, NIWRC Executive Director. “Taylor is an important ally who has partnered with NIWRC for several years to increase the visibility of issues such as missing and murdered Native women and girls, cross-jurisdiction and the lack of resources in Indian Country, and for that we are grateful.”
The series “Yellowstone” is currently in its third season on the Paramount Network. In the past, Sheridan has helped organize fundraisers for NIWRC and helped to raise awareness of missing and murdered Indigenous women with his feature film “Wind River,” released in 2017. Sheridan also submitted congressional testimony in support of the Savanna’s Act. The full text of his testimony can be found in the February 2018 issue of NIWRC’s Restoration of Native Sovereignty and Safety for Native Women magazine, which can be found here.
